Talking about sex may be taboo in conservative countries – young women are changing that

When two female Iranians came to the United States for college, they were shocked at how little they knew about sexual health. They were shocked because they were from wealthy, educated families in Iran. Yet, in the pre-college schooling not one part of the curriculum had been on sexual health, for males or females. And within their own families they had been told very little. These young women are now on a quest to break the taboo and ignorance barriers around sexual health, sexual health as it relates to women and sex talk in general in Iran. The two of them started a website on their own but it really took off and now they have a team and they go around giving workshops. They’ve met some resistance but they are determined.
