Insurance companies, lead by industry giant Anthem Blue Cross, are denying coverage for emergency room visits that they do not consider “true” emergencies. Unfortunately for patients, the definition of a “true” emergency does not emerge until after the visit to the the emergency room has taken place. How does the patient know if the throbbing pain in the center of the chest is a heart attack or just really terrible heart burn. In most cases, they do not, and it is costing them big.
